About the Job

The Key Account/Area Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth within their assigned market segment or geographic territory by identifying and capitalizing on opportunities early in the sales cycle. They work closely with the National Sales Manager to manage assigned customer accounts and focus on expanding business with existing clients while actively prospecting and developing new accounts. The role aims to maximize revenue and support the company's overall sales objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales and revenue targets by identifying and converting opportunities early in the sales cycle and expanding existing accounts.
  • Collaborate with the National Sales Manager to maximize sales potential from assigned accounts.
  • Acquire new customers to exceed sales expectations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and influencers in growth-focused accounts.
  • Actively promote West products and solutions through marketing programs and end-user training sessions.
  • Foster collaboration with internal teams, engaging Technical Customer Support Specialists and other business functions when needed.
  • Analyze customer needs to identify additional opportunities across all products and solutions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate use of the CRM system to maintain data integrity.
  • Support the National Sales Manager by guiding newer team members as needed.
  • Lead and manage assigned sales projects.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the manager.


Key Requirements

  • Educational Background: Degree in Pharmaceutical Science, Biologics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 8–10 years of B2B technical sales experience in a relevant industry; candidates with less experience may qualify for an Area Sales Manager position.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in both English and Korean (verbal and written) is essential.
  • Technical Expertise: Familiarity with pharmaceutical primary packaging (e.g., plungers, stoppers) preferred.
  • Industry Experience: Prior B2B technical sales experience in pharmaceutical, bioscience, or related process industries is advantageous.
  • Standards Knowledge: Understanding of pharmaceutical industry standards is a plus.
  • Account Development: Proven success in growing mid-size accounts into large key accounts is highly valued.
  • Relationship Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills to convert leads into sales while collaborating with internal teams.
  • Sales Competency: Demonstrated ability in sales processes and strategic account planning, consistently achieving or exceeding forecasts.
  • Strategic Focus: Ability to prioritize effectively, adapt account management strategies, and deliver profitable “win-win” outcomes.
  • Value Creation: Understand customer needs and leverage West’s product portfolio to identify cross-selling opportunities, adding value to customers and maximizing revenue.
  • Product Knowledge: Proactively enhance knowledge of West’s products to competitively position offerings in the market.


Travel Requirements

Must be willing to travel up to 80% domestically, with occasional regional travel as needed.
